Billabong ISA World Surfing Games presented by Amarok of Volkswagen
Punta Hermosa, Peru
Press release sent on October 27, 2010
Forty five hundred years after first riding waves in reed boats and 45 years after the World Contest was held in Peru, surfers from this proud nation took back a small but precious piece of their gold – as Team Gold Medalists in the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games Presented by Amarok of Volkswagen.
The ISA grieves the loss of one of the sports most influential athletes, Andy Irons, three times ASP World Champion and former ISA Junior competitor.
The 2010 ISA World Tandem Championship was held on 17 and 18 July at Lacanau, France under very challenging conditions. The home team formed by Clement Cetran and Dhelia Birou, from Biscarosse, won the prestigious title.

After having won the ISA World Championship in 2002 and the ASP World Championship in 2005, Chelsea Hedges went to Peru to defend the Aussie colors with nothing to lose and a lot to win. She did exactly that and became the only woman in the history of the ISA World Surfing Games to win two gold medals in the Open division.
